The importance of being on guard! Mouth guards are the simplest form of protecting the teeth, gums and bone from injury while playing contact sports such as football, hockey, lacrosse and basketball, not to mention they are one of the least expensive pieces of protective equipment.

There are several types of mouth guards, ranging from the stock mouth guards (boil and bite) available at most sporting goods stores, to the more complex custom guards that require an impression to be made of the athlete’s teeth.

• The simpler design has the advantage of availability and cheaper cost, but if you are wearing braces, our recommendation is that you wear a custom mouth guard that fits comfortably around the braces and will not affect your treatment.
• The custom mouth guards can also be designed to fit around any other fixed/corrective appliances, like the FORSUS Class II Corrector.
